Why this rating
FCDO advises against all travel to Somalia, including most of Somaliland, and against all but essential travel to Awdal, Maroodijeh and Sahil, citing terrorist groups and fighting between al-Shabaab and government forces near Mogadishu; the US rates it Level 4. Minority Rights Group documents the long-standing marginalisation of minorities including the Somali Bantu outside the clan system.
