Why this rating
Since hostilities between the US and Iran began in February 2026, the US rates Qatar Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) over drone and missile threats and flight disruption; the FCDO warns of possible further escalation. A UN Special Rapporteur found structural discrimination by national origin, with sub-Saharan Africans reporting being denied entry to parks and malls, and racial profiling by police and security. Black Western visitors may be treated differently from African migrant workers, but can be misidentified.
