Why this rating
The US rates Jordan Level 3 (Reconsider Travel, August 2026) over terrorism and drone and missile risk after the US–Iran hostilities, and the FCDO reports Iranian strikes in Jordan, including near Aqaba in September 2026, and advises against all travel within 3km of the Syrian border. Black African refugees report daily racial abuse and heavier policing (Equal Times, 2019), and Jordan deported around 800 Sudanese asylum seekers in 2015 (HRW). A Black American student described persistent staring and children laughing at 'Sudani'.
