Why this rating
Ireland is rated Level 1 by the US and has no FCDO warning. However, 55% of people of African descent in Ireland reported racial discrimination over five years in FRA's 2023 survey, above the 45% EU average, and Garda data show hate crime incidents rose to 676 in 2024 amid growing anti-immigrant agitation. The Black or Black Irish population was about 76,000 (roughly 1.5%) at the 2022 census.
