In FRA's 2023 survey, 56% of people of African descent in Belgium reported racial discrimination and 48% perceived their most recent police stop as racial profiling. A UN expert mechanism visiting in June 2025 concluded that systemic racism, rooted in colonial legacies, affects all sectors including law enforcement.
