Why this rating
The US rates Bahrain Level 3 for terrorism and the threat of Iranian drone and missile attacks. The FCDO lifted its all-but-essential travel advice in August 2026 but reports Iranian strikes on Bahrain since July. There is a long-standing Afro-Bahraini community, but rights groups (ADHRB, 2016) reported institutional racism against it, and the UN CERD (2022) found migrant domestic workers faced forced labour and passport confiscation.
